Ilford, Greater London, United Kingdom Barnardos Full time

Join the UK's largest children's charity in our exciting and innovative journey alongside Leicestershire County Council to deliver a range of children's homes for our most vulnerable young people.

If you're passionate about the children and young people in your care and can show understanding and consistency of care – this may be the opportunity for you

Service Overview:

One of these properties will be regulated for use as a Family Residential Centre. A Family Residential Centre (also known as a Parent-Child Residential Placement) is an establishment that provides residential placements for parents and their children to monitor and assess the parents' ability to respond to their children's needs and to safeguard and promote their children's welfare whilst this assessment is being completed.

Initial Location of Post:

Market Harborough - Must be able to travel throughout the Locality to meet the requirements of the role.

Objectives of the Leicestershire Family Residential Centre:

Children and Families Services have identified the need to provide increasing numbers of placements for parents and their children to assess parenting capacity where the courts have directed this.

Families utilising this type of service may include parents with moderate to high learning needs, those presenting with issues around domestic violence, and or substance /alcohol misuse. Additionally, they may have experienced mental ill health and/or trauma.

There have been limited family residential placements available in the local region. This new provision will allow for families to have a placement local to their communities, improving outcomes for the families and children.

This provision will take a therapeutic needs-based approach to ensure that the support to each child and family receives is the most appropriate to their specific needs.

This provision will focus on the following principles intended to improve outcomes:

Self- contained family flats as part of a safe and structured living environment Residential workers who are warm and responsive Tailored support, role modelling and mentoring to support parenting with a focus on children's behaviour, attachment, family relationships and children's development Therapeutic support and relationships Trauma-informed approaches

When completing your application please refer to your skills knowledge and experience in relation to the Person Specification, Job Description and Additional Information document. This should be done with an understanding of the context of the service described.
