Early Years Educator Apprentice - Little Learner Nursery
About the employer:
We're driven by the desire to provide the childcare we want for our own children. At Little Learners, young people have the best chance to learn and flourish in a warm and stimulating environment. We opened our first nursery in Elm Park in 2015, followed by a second in the area in 2022.
Both nurseries have high-quality facilities, dedicated rooms covering all age groups, and nutritious home-cooked food, all provided by our teams of experienced, qualified and caring staff.
Little Learners is owned by LifeLine Projects, a charity located in Dagenham with over 15 years of working in Early Years provision and working with parents in a variety of settings.
Overview of Role:
The purpose of this role is to ensure all children receive high quality care, are kept safe and are provided with planned and stimulating play experiences which meet their individual needs and support all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
Apprenticeship Summary:
- You will complete the Early Years Educator qualification (Level 3)
- Expected duration of apprenticeship course 19 months with the support of your work place mentor and your LMP Education tutor.
- 40 Hours per week Worked in shifts, 7:30am 6pm
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend team meetings and all out of hour's activities.
- Support all staff and engage in the team.
- Under supervision provide all aspects of care for children including washing, changing and feeding.
- Assist with meeting the personal and emotional needs of individual children.
- Ensure the provision of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds and stages of development.
- Keep rooms clean and tidy and ensure children's folders are kept up to date
- Provide adult interaction with children in the nursery and offer stimulating and varied activities.
- Be aware of the Nursery's policies and procedures drawing particular attention to confidentiality and safeguarding.
- Contribute to good standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the nursery.
- Undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined by the trainee's supervisor from time to time.
- Understand that as part of the training you may be required to move to other parts of the nursery.
Experience - Essential:
- One year's recent experience of working in a care/ education early years setting
- Experience of planning, short, medium and longterm plans in an early year's setting to meet the needs of both individual children and those in a group setting.
- Experience of providing a nursery curriculum for 03 and / or 35 year olds under the EYFS
- Knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and the Care Standards 2000
- Knowledge / experience of meeting the needs of children and families
- Experience of maintaining contemporaneous accurate records
