Job overview

IMPART is composed of friendly, busy, and innovative staff delivering third wave CBT evidence based psychological therapies to clients with difficulties consistent with a personality disorder and high risk across NELFT. We have four senior therapist roles in the team . The role involves working with highly complex clients with risk and management responsibilities. The senior staff are actively involved in the development and monitoring of team policies and procedures. The senior staff support staff to move to adherence in the therapeutic models . We are looking for applications who are accredited (or eligible for accreditation) in either DBT or CBT.

We work with a hybrid model, allowing staff to combine working on site with virtual working, thus supporting for flexibility and a better work/life balance.

IMPART is closely linked to the psychology department at University College London, and staff participate in supporting the doctorate in clinical psychology through reflective practice facilitation, teaching, and research. IMPART staff benefit from a wide range of CPD available through UCL.

IMPART was one of the three IAPT SMI demonstration sites for NHS England, thus we are seeking applicants with experience of working with individuals with a personality disorder, and interested in expanding the evidence base for effective services. Training in DBT will be provided by a consultant DBT trainer. Opportunities exist for training in other third wave CBT therapies.

Main duties of the job

Senior therapists in the IMPART team are responsbible for:

1) providing adherent therapy for complex high risk clients

2) line manage 3-4 staff

3) manage referrals and clinical needs for one borough

4) participate in the development and monitoring of team policies

5) Provide clinical supervision to staff, clinical psychology trainees, and assistant psychologists/CAPs/Aspiring Psychologists.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,313 to a maximum of £5,436 pro rata for part time).

High Cost Area Supplement - Fringe

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,192 to a maximum of £2,011 pro rata for part time).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

·Providing specialist assessments and interventions for clients with difficulties consistent with a personality disorder.

·Offering a range of psychological therapy models of treatment to clients with difficulties consistent with a personality disorder.

·Providing consultation and advice to members of own team and other teams on psychological therapy models of understanding of personality disorder.

·Providing consultation and advice on risk assessment and risk management of clients with difficulties consistent with a personality disorder. to members of own team and other teams.

·Providing training and supervision to staff within IMPART and across the local area on effective working with individuals with difficulties consistent with a personality disorder.

·Participating in research into personality disorder.

·Taking the lead on agreed audits.

·Developing areas of expertise within the service and take the lead on developing and monitoring processes for this area.

·Supporting the data collection for IMPART

·Developing new clinical materials, leaflets, and handouts for use with clients, families and staff involved in personality disorder services

·Line managing staff within IMPART as agreed with clinical lead

·Triaging referrals and participating in psychology panel in relevant boroughs

·Providing guidance and support in both the physical and virtual delivery of therapy

·Processing complaints and requests for notes in a timely manner

·Participating in SUI processes as they arise

·Supervising clinical trainees and apprentices as requested

Doctorate in clinical or counselling psychology Two years DBT training and practice one year CBT training and practice
