Job description:
  • Assist in efficiently managing warehouse operations to meet operational and customer needs and achieve targets.
  • Train new warehouse staff in your area of responsibility.
  • Ensure accurate inventory management.
  • Record stock movements precisely.
  • Organize and participate in regular stocktakes.
  • Maintain accuracy and relevance of computerized systems.
  • Identify areas for system improvements.
  • Resolve warehouse issues promptly.
  • Generate reports and statistics as needed.
  • Plan for future capacity needs.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Oversee proper handling of products and materials.
  • Maintain warehouse equipment and vehicles.
  • Uphold security standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace for operational efficiency.
  • Act as a substitute for management during absences.
  • Manage time and attendance of warehouse staff.
  • Communicate priorities and operational requirements to the team.
  • Report progress and concerns to supervisors and managers.
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, and transport companies in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Contribute to team collaboration and development.
  • Participate in grievance and disciplinary procedures.
  • Monitor performance, absences, and conduct welfare meetings.

Experience:
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in motivating and supervising teams.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in IT, especially in spreadsheets and databases.
  • Numerical and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of customer deliverables and quality impact.
  • Strong planning and deadline-oriented skills.
  • Attention to detail.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Relevant qualifications like GCSEs Level A-C, NVQ Level 2.
  • Preferably certified in Dangerous Goods Handling.
  • Experience as a Warehouse Team Leader.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with lean techniques is a plus.
  • Forklift Truck license may be required.
