We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a Training & Competence Manager to join our Glasgow site.

Position

The Training and Competence Manager will be responsible for developing and managing the training and competence programs across Glacier Energy Mechanical Solutions based at Glacier Energy's new training Academy in Glasgow. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in the manufacturing industry, specifically in steel fabrication, mechanical fitting, machining, and welding. This role involves creating and implementing training strategies, ensuring compliance with industry standards, managing competence software frameworks, and evaluating the skills and performance of all colleagues from apprentices to senior staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for existing training requirements and the design and implementation of comprehensive training programs tailored to the needs of Mechanical Solutions division.
  • Ensure training programs are aligned with industry standards, client requirements and best practices.
  • Implement and manage competence software frameworks to track and evaluate colleague skills.
  • Ensure all training and competence assessments are up-to-date and accurately recorded.
  • Conduct regular competence audits and maintain detailed records of all training activities.
  • Ensure all training programs comply with ECITB or equivalent standards and other relevant industry regulations.
  • Work closely with various departments to identify training needs and develop appropriate training solutions.
  • Oversee the assessment and verification process for all training programs.
  • Provide guidance and support to apprentices, ensuring they receive comprehensive training and development.
  • Participate in external audits to be able to demonstrate our compliance with all training and competency requirements
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field; a master's degree is a plus. Or over 10 years experience in manufacturing & machining at a supervisory level
  • Extensive experience in the manufacturing industry, particularly in metal work, machining solutions, and welding
  • Proficient in using competence management software and training management systems.
  • Proven experience in managing training programs and teams.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire colleagues at all levels.
  • Preferably is an approved Assessor
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate training effectiveness and make data-driven decisions.
