Job summary

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist with either an accredited Masters of Science in Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP) with a recognisable qualification in Dysphagia or willing to work towards the Masters of Science in Advanced Clinical Practice with a recognisable qualification in dysphagia.

You will be joining a well established Multi Disciplinary Community Learning Disability Service which is integrated with the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. You will be expected to work across the 3 teams in the service, Transition, Community Health and Well Being and Mental Health and Behaviour support

There is 1 post available, with the opportunity for a Band 7 to undertake training in a Masters of Science in Advance Clinical Practice. Please state on your application which you are applying for.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be an experienced Speech and Language Therapist who will be the clinical lead within the service.

The post holder will be expected to act as the clinical lead for the service, managing referrals and workflow for adults with a learning disability with a wide range of communication, eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties. to manage referrals to Speech and language therapy

The post holder will be expected to carry a caseload, completing complex assessment and interventions including assessment and managment of communication needs, dysphagia/eating and drinking difficulties and advising on inclusive communication strategies for people with learning disabilities.

As an Advanced Clinical Practitioner you will be expected to, or work towards the 4 pillars of advanced practice as a trainee.

Education/Qualification/Traning

Essential

Registered HCPC Speech and Language Therapist Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice or willing to work towards Recognisable qualification in Dyshpagia Extensive post-registration experience Evidence of relevant CPD

Experience

Essential

Extensive and Senior Clinical experience in the field of Learning Disabilities Experience of assessing and treating complex conditions including dysphagia assessments and interventions. Experience of assessing and monitoring physical health issues throughout the patient journey Experience of working in similar service

Desirable

Experience of multi-professional collaboration and care leadership

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

Knowledge of key legislation to support the role in working with Adults with a Learning Disability Excellent standards of written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage staff Ability to undertake surveys, audits Strong analytical skills to support business planning, performance management and assurance.
