Aseptic Service Officer

To assist the delivery of an effective and safe Pharmacy Aseptic Service (PAS).

To aseptically dispense cytotoxic products, parenteral nutrition and other injectables.


To assist in the environmental and physical monitoring of the PAS maintaining appropriate records of microbiological cleanliness, pressures, room temperatures and equipment temperatures.

To carry out reception duties, including handing over medication to patients.


To assist in the training and supervision of work of new staff allocated to the team and pharmacy support workers.

All duties are carried out in accordance with good manufacturing practice (GMP) and good clinical practice (GCP) and according to departmental policies and procedures

  • To set up raw materials, consumables and equipment for all products in accordance with defined operating procedures.
  • To accurately and consistently participate in the aseptic dispensing of products using aseptic manipulation technique in accordance with defined standard operating procedures.
  • To dispense pre-prepared aseptic products, oral chemotherapy, and support medication including completing associated paperwork.
  • To prepare worksheets and labels using the Pharmacy IT system for individual aseptic preparation of cytotoxic drugs, total parenteral nutrition and CIVAs products in accordance with defined operating procedures
