The objective of this role is to actively grow the visitor experience at Creswell Crags, working within the developing Catering Strategy.

This remit will include being responsible for preparing, serving and promoting the cafe products and enhancing the visitor experience.

We also anticipate an increase in visitor numbers & a new EPOS systems will be a key focus of Creswell Heritage Trust in 2023 onwards, and this role will be a key part of that.

Key responsibilities:

Responsible for:

  • Ensuring Health & Safety regulations, including food hygiene are adhered to.
  • Ensuring the visitor experience is maintained to a high standard and dealing with any customer enquiries and complaints promptly and minimize any further issues.
  • The selling of cafe products, serving and clearing tables, ensuring waste is disposed of appropriately.
  • The merchandising of displays, ensuring stock is presented in a clean and tidy manner.
  • Preparing and serving food and drinks ensuring consistency and maintaining a high quality.
  • Undertaking cleaning duties (of shelves, stock, equipment etc) as directed by the Cafe Supervisor, ensuring compliance with cleaning schedules.
  • Monitoring stock levels of sales and free goods including checking and recording of goods delivered and maintenance of the stock control systems.
  • Ensuring deliveries of stock is stored correctly and rotated regularly.
  • Being familiar with all EPOS operations and with all systems of sales transactions including cash, cheques and credit cards as required.
  • Ensuring safe custody of cash float and takings and processing daily takings. o Assisting with stocktaking as required.

Other:

  • Being prepared to undertake all training relevant to the role and taking a proactive approach to seeking out CPD opportunities.
  • Representing Creswell Heritage Trust with external stakeholders, maintaining appropriate working contacts and relationships.
  • Partnership working with external organisations as and when required, for example with partner universities, other museums and other stakeholders.

  • The Commercial & Visitor Services Manager, Visitor Services Officer and the Cafe team to create and maintain an inspiring layout and visual displays.
  • The Marketing & Events Officer and the Commercial & Visitor Services team members to promote the commercial offer of the organisation: on site and online retail, café, ticket sales in order to generate income.
  • The Finance & Bookings Assistant, Commercial & Visitor Services team and the Learning team to ensure needs are met for school visits & other activities, to ensure that any specific requirements/requests of the visiting group are identified and acted upon and to maximise visitor engagement and income gen
