Stockport Without Abuse (SWA) is a grassroots charity committed to supporting our vision of everyone having a right to live in safety, and to have a future without fear of domestic abuse.

We work directly with women, men and children who have experienced or are at risk of domestic abuse.


We are looking to recruit an Older Person's Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to join our Community team and deliver safeguarding and therapeutic services to individuals over the age of 55 impacted by domestic abuse.

This will be on behalf of the 'Stand TALL' service, where TALL stands for
Tackling A
buse in L
ater L*ife.

Main purpose of the post:

  • To deliver onetoone support to older victims of domestic abuse at all levels of risk in the community and in safe accommodation, with a genuine interest and understanding in the unique vulnerabilities and risks they face.
  • To identify and attend training conferences relevant to the post, and to participate in the development and delivery of information and materials for older victims.
  • To carry out detailed monitoring and evaluation of all support work in the STAND TALL service, ensuring that adequate and accurate records are kept for all service users.
