Head of Compliance & Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) at Square

Square is seeking a Head of Compliance & MLRO to join the UK team, reporting to the regional Chief Compliance Officer for Europe. In this role, you will lead the implementation of compliance controls and processes under regulatory and AML/CTF programs. The successful candidate will collaborate with the global Compliance team to ensure an effective AML/CTF program and regulatory compliance. This position plays a vital role in Square's success in the UK, interacting with various departments like Compliance, Legal, Payments, Risk, and more.

This role requires to be based in the United Kingdom.
  • Champion a culture of compliance with a consumer-centric approach.
  • Develop AML and financial crime processes in alignment with business and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage risk-based Know Your Customer and Transaction Monitoring programs.
  • Establish relationships with authorities and regulators to stay informed on Financial Crime trends.
  • Ensure accurate responses to regulatory bodies.
  • Supervise the UK Compliance team's operations, including training and performance tracking.
  • Collaborate with Compliance leads on strategic planning and goals.
  • Engage with partners, financial institutions, and regulators.
  • Stay updated on regulatory developments affecting business activities.
  • Prepare reports for senior management and the Board of Directors on compliance issues.
  • Work with internal teams to mitigate regulatory risks.
Qualifications
  • Over 8 years of experience in financial services or e-money/payments industry.
  • 5+ years of people management experience.
  • Expertise in building and managing compliance programs.
  • Strong communication skills with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and levels.
  • Experience with data visualization tools.
