We are looking to recruit a Rights Assistant to join our world record-breaking team, on a permanent basis.

In Children’s, we publish a wide range of debut and award-winning authors and illustrators, including Stephen and Lucy Hawking, Femi Fadugba, Anthony Browne, Helen Oxenbury, Nathan Bryon and Dapo Adeola, as well global brands such as Bluey, Tom Fletcher, Spot and Peter Rabbit.

As a member of the Children’s Rights team, you will provide support to a team managing a high volume of work and overseeing the production of a large number of translated books known as co-editions.

 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating foreign language print deals, from price requests to supplying files, checking foreign language editions, tracking deadlines and resolving queries
  • Maintaining accurate system and database records of sales and deals in Biblio (a publishing system)
  • Preparing presentations and managing production and manuscript schedules
  • Handling requests for material from customers and supporting price requests
  • Managing the process for securing final materials/assets for Territory Managers
  • Organising travel, meetings and sales materials for book fairs and international sales trips
  • Ad-hoc duties to the support team when needed

 

What you’ll bring

  • You’ll be the first point of contact for incoming queries from our vast range of publishers around the globe, so you’ll need strong communication and customer service skills. 
  • You’ll manage and help deliver a mixture of file sales and physical books to our customers and navigate tricker printings, so project management and problem solving are needed. 
  • You’ll also need to be good at creating spreadsheets and managing supply of early material, manuscripts, covers and keeping the sales team updated with the submission calendar.
  • Strong organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • The ability to juggle requests from multiple senior team members in a fast-paced environment.
  • A keen eye for detail.

You don’t need publishing experience as we’ll provide training on publishing systems. If you want to work with our children’s books and learn more about international markets, this role is for you

  • Demonstratable interest in the Rights division and children’s books
  • Proven written ability showcased through your application
  • Experience/ Knowledge of MS Office Excel/Word/ Outlook
  • Demonstrable understanding of managing multiple stakeholders at varying seniorities
  • Demonstrable communication skills
