An opportunity has now arisen to join the Division’s Systems and Data team as the Research Data and Reporting Manager. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Research Strategy & Services (Head of Systems & Data), the post holder will play a pivotal role in overseeing and advancing the development of research data and reporting infrastructure. The individual will ensure the provision of robust management information to a range of stakeholders, from essential operational reports for individual researchers to the delivery of accurate and timely data and analysis to inform senior management decision-making.

The role of the Research Data and Reporting Manager will be instrumental in executing the University’s research data strategy, with responsibilities that include championing end-user feedback to refine research reporting functionality, safeguarding the integrity of research management information, and ensuring data accessibility for all stakeholders, as well as developing comprehensive training and guidance to foster widespread adoption and consistency in usage. The post holder will represent RSSD on strategic working groups and project teams to ensure that the reporting and data requirements of the division and the wider research community are incorporated and appropriately prioritised in the evolution and delivery of the overall institutional data strategy.

Person Specification

  • Qualified to Degree level or equivalent. 
  • Significant relevant experience in roles with responsibility for data ownership, data reporting and analytics, and delivering management information to meet the needs of a range of stakeholders. 
  • Experience in a customer-facing role, understanding and responding to business priorities to deliver a service that supports the institution’s strategic priorities, and providing support to service end users through query resolution, guidance and training. 
  • Proven experience of working collaboratively with IT development staff, service users and senior managers to define and deliver data and management information solutions to meet business needs.
