**Job summary**:
We are looking for a Researcher to join our Research and Evaluation team.

The Research and Evaluation team provides Ofsted’s research function. The team delivers all major thematic reports, the Chief Inspector’s Annual Report as well as evaluation of Ofsted’s inspection practice and impact.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering individual pieces of research to support the Research and Evaluation programme. They will ensure rigour of the best research practice while respecting the inspection context where evidence is primarily gathered to maximise the impact that Ofsted can have in raising standards.

The post holder will work across a variety of projects, assisting research/evaluation leads with primary and secondary evidence gathering, research design and data analysis.

They will build up knowledge of the range of data sources and research available and use this knowledge to carry out analysis, synthesise research and advise others on the basis of findings. They will provide advice about research methods and design, and critique reports prior to publication to ensure they are robust and balanced.

The post holder will build relationships with a range of colleagues from across the Research and Evaluation team and more widely in Ofsted.
