We are currently looking to recruit a Pressure and Vacuum Vessel Engineer to assist our Pressure Vessel Technical Authority. You will be part of a small team, underwriting the design, manufacture and certification of bespoke Pressure and Vacuum equipment for use at client.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to clients Pressure Vessel Technical Authority (PVTA) for the approval of bespoke pressure and vacuum equipment (static & dynamic) for use within a nuclear licensed site
  • Review design information relating to pressure/ vacuum equipment such as design requirements, engineering drawings and calculations against internal procedures and applicable design codes
  • To provide conformity assessment at contractors works (predominately UK based) for the manufacture and testing of pressure/ vacuum equipment prior to delivery to client
  • Provide support to internal/ external stakeholders in resolving emerging issues relating to design/ manufacture of pressure/ vacuum equipment
  • To provide guidance and promote the use of clients safety procedures and design standards related to discipline
  • To be able to communicate at all levels and provide feedback in a clear and concise manner
  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in environmental, safety, health, and security

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • HNC/HND in an engineering discipline and associate membership of an appropriate institute or Degree in an engineering discipline or a chartered engineer, but not necessarily both.
  • Good working knowledge of Mechanical Engineering practise
  • Good working knowledge of Regulations and Standards for Pressure Equipment i.e. Pressure Equipment Directive and Pressure Equipment Regulations, Inc PED risk categories and conformity assessments
  • Working knowledge of the Design of Pressure and Vacuum Systems
  • Working knowledge of one or more relevant vessel/ piping design codes such as PD5500, ASME III, ASME VIII Division 1 2&3, BS EN 13445, BS EN 13480, ASME B31.3, although a deep knowledge of all of these is not expected
  • Selecting and Specifying material, Understanding Product Codes
  • Knowledge of Manufacture of Pressure and Vacuum Systems including Welding, identification on drawings, procedures and qualification, material, specifying, NDT Testing, inspection, schedule and traceability, proof pressure test, pressure leak test abd vacuum leak test
  • Good understanding of Quality Control Plans and Inspection and Test Plans including their creation and approval. Being able to clearly present to a company/contractor the requirements they need to meet
  • Ability to carry out a review of a company against the requirements of the pressure vessel codes referred:
  • Being able to understand, verify and carry out independent analysis of: Pressure Vessel Code calculations, Fracture Mechanics, Fatigue Analysis, Finite element Analysis
