The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced laboratory technician to join our School of Pharmacy to lead a team of technicians and provide specialised technical support to teaching and research, across the School and our wider University facilities.

You will be an inspirational leader and role model, demonstrating the highest standards of leadership and behaviour and contributing strategically to the development of an outstanding professional service. A positive and proactive approach is essential to ensure our laboratories are equipped and maintained to deliver excellent standards of service delivery. You will be adaptable to change and able to take an innovative approach to support academic colleagues in the development of our facilities to maximise their potential across teaching, research and commercial activities.

To be successful in this role, you will have substantial technical experience in pharmaceutical science and excellent communication skills with up-to-date, detailed knowledge of relevant Health & Safety policy and procedure in a laboratory based setting. Acting as School Health and Safety officer, it is essential to be confident in advising colleagues on H&S policy & procedure and provide local inductions to staff and students.

You will be based in our School of Pharmacy laboratories, with access to a wide range of state-of-the-art equipment. You will be part of a wider Faculty of Medical Sciences community of technicians with access to continuous professional development and a network of staff who are committed to the University's vision and values to work collaboratively and share experience and best practice to deliver excellence, creativity and impact.
