About the role:

We are currently seeking a Technician to join our Computing department at The Bedford College group.

The successful candidate will be based at one of our college campuses Kettering/Corby/Wellingborough and will be responsible for the development of the department’s networks and contribute to the delivery of support services across the department. The main purpose of the role is to support delivery of HE and T level courses in the department and where necessary liaise with the college’s IT department.

Responsibilities include;

  • To contribute to the delivery of efficient and effective services by configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting equipment and services at all the Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough sites.
  • To monitor and administer the department’s networks and ensure that systems and resources are maintained in a good state of repair and records for these resources are accurate.
  • To liaise with teaching staff to ensure that specialist systems and services are properly configured and supported.

About you:

  • Risk assessment experience
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems
  • Familiarity with Microsoft applications
  • Familiarity with Linux
  • Understanding of Health & Safety issues
  • Up-to-date understanding of PC architecture
  • Up-to-date understanding of networking and router and switch management
  • Ability to communicate with and support the needs of non-specialist clients and customers
