The Barbour story began in 1894 in South Shields in the North East of England. Founder John Barbour began supplying oilskins and other garments to protect the growing community of sailors, fishermen and dockers. Still family owned and now fifth generation, Barbour HQ remains in South Shields. Under the leadership of Chairman Dame Margaret Barbour, Barbour has grown into a lifestyle brand sold in over 55 countries worldwide including Europe, the US and Asia offering a wardrobe of stylish functional clothing, footwear and accessories inspired by the unique values of the British countryside. The iconic Barbour Bedale and Barbour Beaufort wax jackets continue to be made by hand in the factory in South Shields. In 2020, Barbour launched Wax for Life, an overarching name for all of Barbour's wax services designed to encourage customers to extend the life of their wax garments. Wax for Life includes re-waxing and repairs (first introduced in 1921) and Barbour Re-Loved an upcycling circularity initiative. Each year over 70,000 wax garments are sent back to Barbour globally to be repaired, rewaxed or altered.
Position Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Production Manager to join our fast-paced Supply Chain team at Barbour House, South Shields. You will lead & develop a team of Production Managers to maximise Customer Order Fulfilment levels for the Clothing Category. Ensuring finished goods are supplied "on time" to our distribution centres, to the agreed quantities and timelines. You will assist the Category Manager in providing excellent quality products and world class customer service ensuring the supply base in managed in terms of delivery, quality and cost.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
BUYING
Liaise with Suppliers & the Forecasting Team to ensure Buys are placed & confirmed in accordance with the agreed parameters (Garment & Fabric MOQ/Lead-Time/Cost/Capacity) Manage the Production Managers to ensure P/O's are raised accurately and in a timely manner FULFILLMENT
Drive Customer Order Fulfilment metrics to meet business demands identifying and actioning current, future and potential problems in order to maximise the allocation of finished product Lead the Team to ensure key Sales priorities are communicated and action plans are carried out Work to the Commercial Calendar for consumer launch dates for pre, main, special ranges and collaborations Deliver Salesman (Agent) Samples on time for Launch Manage the Production Managers to ensure P/O's are maintained and M3 reflects accurate PO data Present Fulfilment Figures & Performance Overview weekly to Senior Management Ensure key stakeholders e.g. Sales/Forecasting/Technical Teams are aware of exceptions/issues SUPPLIER MANAGEMENT
Build & maintain excellent working relationships throughout the Supply Base Support the Category Manager with managing new & underperforming Suppliers Represent Barbour on supplier visits reviewing production plans and building/maintaining supplier relationships TEAM MANAGEMENT
Lead & develop a high performing team of Production Managers Interact interdepartmentally, building excellent working relationships with key stakeholders Skills and Experience:
Ideally proven experience in product sourcing & production Experience of Production Planning & Supplier Management Ideally experience of product costing High level of numeracy including product costing Detailed and systematic approach to presented information Attention to detail Time management Excellent communication skills, including dealing with "offshore" Suppliers Strong organisation skills Strong people skills Problem solving Negotiation with external businesses Pragmatic approach to business in general Additional Information:
