Role Requirements

Operating in the Commercial department and carrying out related
requirements in accordance with the policies, goals and objectives
established by the business as directed by the Commercial Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

● To source components and RAW material for subcontract
manufacturing business.
● Extract drawings, part reports, from engineering drawings and
database information to compile technical RFQ for Tier 2
suppliers and OEM part manufacturers.
● Interrogate complex bills of material making judgements on
purchase versus manufacture in conjunction with the
manufacturing team.
● Working in the purchasing department with a good
understanding of RAW material specifications. Knowledge of
common Oil and Gas standard materials is advantageous. (For
example Norsok M650, DNV-GL-RP0034, API 6A.)
● To operate in, facilitate, monitor and develop an efficient and
effective Purchasing section, with a 50/50 split between
deciphering requirements from complex bills of materials and
sourcing activities whilst working closely with the sales team on
competitive parts pricing.
● Allocating appropriate part numbers and raising PO’s from
requisitions whilst considering savings prior to ordering via ERP
system (EFACS).
● To ensure there is a continuous supply of materials and services
to enable all delivery objectives to be achieved in the most cost
effective and timely manner.
● To maintain and encourage high morale and initiative through
positive attitude and effective communication often with multiple
bids and projects running simultaneously.
● To help develop an efficient and effective purchasing
department, specifically in areas of policy and procedure,
experience in highly regulated environments such as Oil and
Gas, Nuclear, Scientific etc.
● To ensure that you abide by the company’s code of conduct and
are exemplary and professional in all business aspects with our
suppliers and ensure all health and safety regulations are
observed and maintained
● Assist in the purchase of ad-hoc materials/services as required
by the production department to enable delivery requirements to
be achieved.
● Continually seek new suppliers to satisfy the increasing demand.
● Maintain EFACS supplier database.

● Continually appraise and develop Howco’s supply chain to
improve and reduce the EFACS supplier database where
possible.
● Liaise with Suppliers, Production Control and Quality
Department for engineering drawing/specification changes.
● Purchase company sundry items periodically as required in
accordance with company policy and budgets.
● Purchase workshop tooling periodically as required in
accordance with company policy and budgets.
● To identify and achieve lowest costs without impeding quality
and maintain the ‘Standard Cost’ of materials on the appropriate
database within EFACS.
● Validate supplier invoices as required working with the
administration department to improve and speed flow of
information and timely data.
● Monitor suppliers performance to ensure that the approved
suppliers achieve the goals set during the management review
and produce a monthly report highlighting performance.
● To maintain, develop and improve wherever possible, company
procedures, standards of quality and workmanship to BS EN
ISO 9001 at all times.

● To meet the cost strategy set by Commercial Manager to meet
and exceed the needs of the business
● To meet the bid turnaround time set by the Commercial Manager
for successful submission.
● To submit Technical Deviations and Quality Notifications to the
quality department to meet the project deadline.
● To contribute effectively to the Commercial.

Job Requirements Qualifications

● Mechanical Engineering Background / Experience in purchasing
raw material, engineered products and services.
● Ability to read engineering drawings is essential
● Ability to interpret technical specifications.
● Sub contract / OEM Manufacturing experience highly desired.
