🔍 Our client, an organisation based in Ashton-under-Lyne, is seeking a skilled Risk, Insurance & Information Governance (RIIG) Officer to join their team. As the RIIG Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring information governance compliance, managing risks, and supporting data protection initiatives.

🔒 RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 🔒

🔹 Information Governance:



  • Keep the Information Governance Framework up-to-date and aligned with business strategies and legal requirements.
  • Enable user understanding of the Information Governance Framework and promote adherence among staff.
  • Develop and maintain the Information Governance pages on the intranet.
  • Advise on risk management and countermeasures to mitigate information risks.
  • Assist in conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments.
  • Build relationships with senior managers and partner organisations to ensure compliance with information governance policies.
  • Organise and support Information Governance Group meetings.
  • Advocate for future requirements and recommend improvements to the Information Governance Group.
  • Conduct audits and security reviews to minimise data/information losses and incidents.
  • Monitor conformance with the Information Governance Framework and report to management.
  • Investigate and manage information incidents in collaboration with Legal and HR.
  • Work closely with the Risk, Insurance and Information Governance Assistant to maintain the Information Incident Log.
  • Provide reports and statistics on information governance-related issues.
  • Prepare and deliver training and awareness sessions for elected members and officers.


💼 EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS 💼

📚 To be considered for this role, you should have the following qualifications:



  • GCSEs (A-C) or equivalent, including English and Maths.
  • A Levels or equivalent in a relevant subject.
  • NVQ in public administration or equivalent.
  • Insurance qualifications.
  • Records Management or Information Governance Qualification.


EXPERIENCE

📌 The ideal candidate will possess the following experience:



  • Previous risk management and insurance claims experience.
  • Experience working with data protection, freedom of information, or information governance issues.
  • Understanding of information governance issues in a local government environment.
  • Experience assessing risks and compiling risk registers.
  • Familiarity with business continuity methodology.
  • Ability to handle multiple inquiries and tasks simultaneously in a timely manner.
  • Experience in preparing and delivering training courses.
