In Belfast we have a diverse portfolio to look after, from historic gardens to wild mountains, woodland and glens, to stretches of coastline. We have some incredibly exciting projects that you'll support on - and immense opportunities still to grasp.

This role is a 7 month fixed term contract.

What it's like to work here

Reporting to the General Manager, you'll lead for visitor experience, programming and growing support for the Belfast portfolio. 

You’ll be at the forefront of developing our visitor experience at Rowallane Garden and Patterson’s Spade Mill, inspiring others to exceed visitors’ expectations by ensuring the consistent quality of our customer service and the unique stories that we tell. 

You'll lead the Programming and Visitor Welcome team at Rowallane Garden and will be a member of the Property Leadership Team. You'll work across the portfolio but will be based in Rowallane Garden in Saintfield, Belfast’s main pay-for-entry site. Spanning 52 acres and surrounded by a further 140 acres of farmland, the garden is home to a rare and exotic plant collection.

What you'll be doing

The Belfast Visitor Operations and Experience Manager is a particularly busy role working cross a wide ranging and diverse portfolio and will require strategic planning and looking to the future as well as delivering on a day to day basis.

It’s a real time of growth at Rowallane as we welcome over 150,000 visitors each year. By leading a high performing team of staff and volunteers and working closely with the team of Gardeners, you'll play a lead role in bringing the garden to life for a range of audiences, continuing to evolve our visitor offer and engaging ways to tell our stories, showcasing all the reasons to keep coming back and how to support our cause and get involved. 

You'll work closely with the Programming & Partnerships Manager to develop and deliver a holistic programming and events plan for the year, focussing on programming at Rowallane where you'll lead for core, seasonal and national programming. You'll also lead for operations and on Duty Management in Rowallane.

You'll work across the wider Belfast portfolio supporting our work in a diverse range of exceptional places rich in nature, beauty and history. At Divis, you'll support the Visitor Experience team in the development of programming, visitor journey and their own Growing Support Plan - and you'll sit on the Interpretation Workstream for the Divis: A View to the Future Project. Working closely with the team at Patterson’s Spade Mill you'll support visitor operations and delivery of the growing support plan for the site and alongside the countryside team you'll lead for presentation standards and signage across the rest of the countryside sites including Minnowburn, Lisnabreeny and Cregagh Glen.
