Job Summary 

We are looking for an enthusiastic network coordinator to support the Imperial College-led “iSpy-LIFE” network of international researchers, who are trying to understand immunity to Strep A. You will be the administrative and financial point of contact for network partners and for the funder. 

Our ultimate goal is to gain better understanding of how people become immune to Strep A to promote development of successful Strep A vaccines. The iSpy network has recently been funded by the Leducq Foundation, a philanthropic organisation with an interest in preventing rheumatic heart disease, which is a complication of Strep A. Strep A is responsible for over half a million deaths per year. 

Our scientific partners in iSpy-LIFE are from South Africa, the Gambia, Canada, Australia, Sweden, Holland and the UK. 

You will be responsible for supporting network partners by submitting invoices on their behalf, and for ensuring compliance with the overall research contract. You will be also responsible for organising meetings and networking events for our network, for communications related to the network, including a website, and will help to organise contractual matters relating to the network. The post provides an excellent opportunity to get involved in the organisation of clinical observational studies related to the network’s research. You will also liaise with our partner subnetwork, iSpy-EXPLORE, which is led from University of California, San Diego and their partners who are based in the USA, Brazil, Australia, and New Zealand. 

Duties and responsibilities

As our network coordinator you will:

  • Collate invoices from each subnetwork member, ensuring compliance with the funder rules, and submit to the funder in the currency agreed and in line with the financial reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate and lead in the timely preparation of periodic reports for the funder including both financial reporting and deliverables.
  • Organise subnetwork meetings ad events as advised by the PI whether face-to-face or online and coordinate attendance.
  • Act as point of administrative contact for the subnetwork’s work and represent the subnetwork at meetings as appropriate to support the PI.
  • Liaison with associated subnetwork (iSpy-EXPLORE) as required.
  • Be responsible for communications with the network using a range of on line systems 

Essential requirements 

  • Degree or equivalent, preferably in science of healthcare subject
  • Experience of managing projects and working in research environment
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent numeric skills and financial management experience
  • Ability to prioritise work appropriately 

Further Information 

This is a part-time (up to 0.7FTE), fixed term contract which is available until 31 December 2028. 

Hybrid working may be considered for this role and the opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview. Staff working in roles that are suitable for hybrid working will normally be expected to work 60% of their time onsite.
