Assistant Engineering Manager | Estates and Facilities | Competitive Salary | Manchester | Full Time, Permanent

Spire Healthcare has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Engineering Manager to join our Estates and Engineering team on a Full Time and Permanent basis. The role will be based at our Spire Manchester Hospital.

The 37.5 hours will be split across the week and being on call is also a requirement.

We are looking for a multi skilled individual with previous management experience in a similar environment. Training and support will be provided, alongside development opportunities.

As part of the maintenance team you will provide a comprehensive and cost effective engineering service within the hospital ensuring compliance with all National Legislation and Spire Policy and maintain a safe environment for all staff and customers.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Commission, record and schedule all new equipment and services for planned maintenance on the network CMMS
  • Ensure continual update of hospital asset register to keep all plant and equipment visible to the site and the network
  • Ensure an appropriate asset management procedure is in place for all engineering plant and equipment. Work with other departmental manger's to ensure an appropriate asset management is in place for all hospital equipment
  • Assist the Engineering Manager as point of contact for all external contractors providing specialist services to building/building services/equipment and manage those contractors whilst on site in line with Spire policy
  • Undertake maintenance/testing of plant/equipment, ensuring compliance with current HTM recommendations / PPM Schedules and manufactures instruction keeping all necessary record
  • Provide in-house day to day maintenance service

Who we're looking for:

  • Served a recognised apprenticeship in either electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Additional Mechanical Engineering qualification and experience would be desirable
  • A member of the Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management is desirable but not essential
  • Experience of working within a similar role, candidates with Healthcare sector experience will be preferred
  • Whilst not essential, it is desirable for you to hold relevant specialist certificates for Decontamination, MGPS, HVAC, Water and Electrical services
