Bristol BS TR United Kingdom EDF Energy Full time

Aztec West, Bristol - with flexibility of working from home, minimum 3 days a week in the office.

Are you a qualified engineer? Do you have knowledge and experience with EPR design and engineering processes? Are you looking to develop your expertise and build experience in the exciting and challenging environment of nuclear new build?

If so, join us as a Technical Governance Coordination Lead and you'll join one of the most exciting and ambitious projects within EDF, as we continue to lead the rebirth of nuclear in the UK.

The Opportunity...

At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is responsible for delivering the design for a number of NI buildings, systems and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project through an integrated team, support to HPC construction and commissioning activities, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. Therefore, a Technical Directorate is being created, responsible for the engineering disciplines and technical expertise required to deliver the different engineering projects through integrated teams in EPR-E.

As a Technical Governance Coordination Lead, you will oversee and drive the technical decision-making process, ensuring compliance with HPC project organisation. In this role you will be participating in the arbitration and prioritisation of technical topics, coordinating stakeholders for consensus, and supporting teams in preparing materials for technical committees.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a salary from £60,000 to £70,000, we offer a competitive benefits package, including a company pension scheme, a wide range of flexible benefits to suit your lifestyle, and the opportunity to earn bonus.

At EDF, everyone's welcome. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse environment where everyone has a voice and where you feel confident being yourself.  We're committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.  We'd like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We're a disability confident employer and we'll do all we can to help with your application, making adjustments as you need.

We'll value the difference you bring and offer opportunities for you to thrive and succeed.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading and managing the technical decision-making process in alignment with HPC project organisation.
  • Participating in the arbitration and prioritisation of technical issues.
  • Coordinating with stakeholders across the business to secure buy-in and consensus from all relevant parties.
  • Assisting teams in preparing topics for presentation to technical committees (e.g, NIAM, CMB, CCB) by organising logistics, collecting, and sharing documents, and providing content guidance.
  • Organising weekly forums (NIAM - Nuclear Island Architect Meeting) for multi-disciplinary discussions and resolution of complex issues, chaired by the Edvance HPC Technical Director.
  • Ensuring decisions are documented and tracked in a timely and proper manner.
  • Recommending and implementing improvements to existing working practices.
  • Coordinating or leading technical topics based on project requirements.

Who you are

Your background may include some of the following:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
  • Significant experience in engineering, leadership, or project management.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with EPR design and engineering processes.
  • A solid understanding of UK laws, regulations, nuclear industry practices, and best practices.
  • Strong capability to comprehend complex technical topics and produce accurate summaries.
  • Experience in cross-functional technical coordination.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish, achieve, and uphold the highest standards of safety and quality.

Closing Date: 27th August 2024.

Join us and together we can help Britain achieve Net Zero.
