Founded in 2000, The Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research conducts high quality and integrated climate change research in support of UK and international climate change policy. The Tyndall Centre pioneers integrated and interdisciplinary research, contributing both to the theory and practice of sustainable solutions to the challenge of climate change. Encompassing the scientific, engineering, social science and economic communities, the Tyndall Centre has progressed significantly the science of emission reduction, scenarios, impacts, integrated modelling at global and city scale, adaptation and international equity. Headquartered at UEA, the Tyndall is a partnership of Institutes in the Universities of Cardiff, Manchester and Newcastle and includes a growing group of affiliated researchers at other institutions.

Following the announcement of the retirement of Professor Robert Nicholls and as the Tyndall Centre heads towards its 25th anniversary, we are now seeking to appoint a new Director. The Director will have a distinguished profile in disciplinary areas associated with the Tyndall Centre. They will be an outstanding leader, ambassador and advocate, with a proven track record of working across academia, government, business and civic society. The ability to exploit funding opportunities and an instinctive appreciation of the Centre’s contribution to national and international climate change policy are essential. 

You will bring a deep-rooted belief in the work of the Tyndall Centre, as well as the reputation, confidence and experience to lead the Centre to a new level of success. Given the position of the Centre as a leading Centre of excellence and authority on climate change policy, you will contribute meaningfully and regularly to relevant national and international debate.
