Job Summary: We are seeking a diligent and hardworking Household Waste Operative to join our waste management team. You will be responsible for the collection, sorting, and disposal of household waste and recyclables, ensuring a clean and safe environment for the community.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect household waste and recyclables from designated areas according to the assigned route.
  • Sort and separate recyclables from general waste.
  • Load waste and recyclables onto collection vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Operate waste collection vehicles and equipment in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Perform routine checks and maintenance of waste collection vehicles and equipment.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of waste collection sites and vehicles.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and the public to ensure efficient waste collection services.
  • Report any issues or discrepancies to supervisors promptly.

Requirements:

  • Full valid drivers licence is essential
  • Previous experience in waste management or a similar role preferred.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays if required.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
