Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Oversight:

Lead and manage the sporting department.Oversee all sports programs, including Games lessons, academic PE, and extra-curricular activities.

Games Lessons:

Teach and coordinate Games lessons within the school timetable.Manage staff members involved in teaching these lessons.

After-School Lessons:

Organise and manage team practices and training sessions during and after school.

Academies Coordination:

Work with sports academies to ensure they meet educational and sporting standards.Ensure sports academies contribute to a well-rounded education for students.

Matches and Competitions:

Create and manage teams for competitions against other schools.Promote sports achievements and ensure all students are involved.

Facility Coordination:

Oversee the scheduling and usage of sports facilities.Work with grounds staff to ensure facilities are ready for matches and events.Ensure fair allocation of facilities to different teams and groups.

Sports Development:

Develop and promote a variety of sports, including cricket, hockey, and netball.

Student Motivation:

Actively motivate and engage students in sports activities.Use student-centered approaches to increase participation.

Student Development:

Encourage participation in physical activities and promote a healthy lifestyle.Support students' social and emotional development through team and individual sports.Identify and nurture students' talents and interests in various sports.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with colleagues to plan and coordinate the PE curriculum and Games sessions.Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding students’ progress and well-being.Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of PE programs.

Health and Safety:

Ensure the health and safety of students during PE lessons and Games sessions.Conduct risk assessments and follow school policies related to safety.

Qualifications and Skills:

A degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field.Ability to teach GCSE and/or A level PE preferableProven experience in sports management and teaching.Strong leadership and organisational skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to motivate and engage students in sports activities.Commitment to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among students.Knowledge of health and safety regulations in sports settings.
