An exciting leadership opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Head of Management Accounts - Projects to join our Finance team.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Management Accounts and working closely alongside the Director/ Deputy Director of Finance, in this role you will lead on strategic project work and external reporting across the Finance directorate, to provide comprehensive, effective, and efficient financial management, governance, support, challenge and direction.

In this senior role, you’ll work with senior managers across the Finance directorate to ensure the provision of a strategic, professional, effective and solutions focused finance service which aligns to the achievement of the University’s Finance Strategy. You’ll provide high-quality technical and analytical support through the development and implementation of a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function for the Finance Directorate, producing insightful analysis and issue resolution, and will seek to continuously improve processes and procedures to support efficient and effective operations within a strong internal control environment.

About you

The successful candidate for this post will be a fully qualified member of a recognised accounting professional body, and will have extensive post-qualification project accounting experience, preferably within the Higher Education sector.

You will have responsibility for 2 direct reports and will be required to build strong working relationships with business partners and senior leaders across the University, therefore leadership and management skills, as well as the ability to influence and build credibility and relationships at all levels is essential.

With a strong commercial awareness and a clear understanding of key business drivers, you will possess a proven track record in working as a key member of a multidisciplinary team, providing financial leadership, support and challenge.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week, Monday- Friday) and open-ended (permanent). Relocation assistance will be provided where appropriate.
