**Job Purpose**
The Deputy Head of Professional Services provides professional support and administrative coordination aligned to the professional services resources and needs of the School. The post holder will support senior management and play a lead role in the successful implementation and delivery of the School’s strategy, policies and objectives, in order to fully achieve key University/College/School goals and deliver improvements evidenced by internal and external measures.
This post will deputise for the Head of Professional Services (HoPS) in the School of Health & Wellbeing in their absence and take on delegated tasks from both the Head of School and HoPS.
This post will lead on developing operations and management processes, web and social media strategy, reporting to the HoPS and Head of School.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. Provide professional advice and support for the HoPS in their partnership with the Head of School, to implement and deliver the school strategy in line with the College and University’s strategic objectives, KPIs and targets, including playing a key role in coordinating and influencing the strategic planning process
2. Contribute directly and indirectly as agreed to the management of the professional/administrative, operational, and technical support functions and structures in the school to secure effective delivery of the school’s priorities and ensure KPI target delivery.
3. As a member of the School Executive, contribute towards the delivery of school strategy, including the financial planning process and risk mitigation plans.
4. Develop, with Head of School, and senior academic colleagues, public engagement opportunities including partnerships and networks to enhance reputation at local, national, and international levels, and play an active part and contributing to the School Athena Swan Self-assessment team.
5. Lead on developing operations and management processes in the School, managing a budget, web content and social media strategies, and continuously seeking improvements.
6. Contribute to College/University wide process improvement programmes, driving efficiency gains and improving the service provision to students and staff, providing School level leadership aligned with College/University expectations.
7. Ensure effective compliance on behalf of the School with University policies and procedures and any other relevant legislation (e.g., Health and Safety, etc.); being responsible for sourcing appropriate support from specialist/professional colleagues as required.
8. In partnership with senior academic colleagues develop a robust framework to support compliance with relevant accreditation, including Athena SWAN, regulatory requirements, and quality assurance processes.
9. With the HoPS assist with the operational delivery and provision of strategic support for the School/College internationalisation strategy, ensuring services and resources are aligned to School/College/University ambitions.
10. Support Head of School/School Executive in dealing with strategic HR matters and the recruitment of academic colleagues to strengthen the organisational profile of the School, and to ensure systems are in place to support the School’s implementation of HR policies, consulting with the College Head of HR.
11. To contribute to the enhancement of the University’s international profile in line with the University’s Strategic Vision “World Changers Together - World Changing Glasgow 2025”.

**Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Experience**

**Knowledge/Qualifications**

**Essential**
A1 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 9 (Ordinary Degree Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4), including being professionally qualified in a relevant discipline, with a broad range of professional experience in a similar management level role **or **Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar or number of different roles.
A2 Knowledge of governance and business processes in a large complex organisation
A3 Knowledge and understanding of the HE sector and potential challenges
A4 Broad knowledge of financial management within a budgetary control framework

**Desirable**
B1 Broad knowledge of Lean/process improvement and change management.
B2 Excellent knowledge/understanding of research processes and funding.
