Job Details
Postdoctoral Training Fellow in Molecular Haematopoiesis
The Haemato-Oncology Team at The Institute of Cancer Research, London (Sutton), led by Prof. Kamil R. Kranc, invites applications for a highly motivated and skilled postdoctoral scientist specialising in normal and malignant haematopoiesis. This position is available for one year in the first instance. The project will focus on the impact of the epitranscriptome and hypoxia biology on normal haematopoiesis and leukaemic transformation. Our central aim is to discover and validate new therapeutic targets in leukaemia, whose inactivation compromises cancer stem cells but not normal haematopoiesis.
This project will be supervised by Prof. Kamil R. Kranc. Recent relevant publications from the lab include Lawson et al., Nature Cancer (2024); Kucinski et al., Cell Stem Cell (2024); Lawson et al., Blood Advances (2021); Mapperley et al., J. Exp. Med. (2021); and Paris et al., Cell Stem Cell (2019), which discover novel mechanisms underlying normal and malignant haematopoiesis. The post holder will employ state-of-the-art approaches to uncover and validate novel therapeutic targets in AML, as well as critical regulators of haematopoietic stem cell biology.
For general information on Post Doc's at The ICR can be found here.
Key Requirements
The successful candidate must have a PhD in a relevant life sciences subject related to haemato-oncology. Proven research laboratory experience with in vivo biology, as well as molecular biology, RNA biology/epitranscriptome or hypoxia biology, omics approaches (e.g., RNA-seq, CLIP-seq, ChIP-seq), and protein biochemistry, is crucial. A publication track record in the RNA and/or hypoxia fields would be an advantage.
The ICR has a workforce agreement stating that Postdoctoral Training Fellows can only be employed for up to 7 years as PDTF at the ICR, providing total postdoctoral experience (including previous employment at this level elsewhere) does not exceed 10 years
Department/Directorate Information:
Haemato-Oncology Team led by Professor Kranc belongs to the Division of Molecular Pathology.
We encourage all applicants to access the job pack attached for more detailed information regarding this role. Informal enquiries about this post are strongly encouraged. Arrangements to visit the Institute can be made upon request. Please contact Professor Kamil R. Kranc (Kamil.Kranc@icr.ac.uk) for further information.
