Applicants are invited for a Clinical Research Fellow in Gastrointestinal Cancers. This is a two-year (with possibility of extension to three years) doctoral clinical research fellowship, working towards an MD(Res) registered with The ICR and awarded by the University of London. MD(Res) fees will be paid by the unit, and a wide range of other personal and professional development opportunities are available.

The post will support both the research and clinical duties of the GI/lymphoma unit. This will include two GI cancers new patient/follow up clinics each week, with the addition of one research clinic per week.

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust has an international reputation for high quality patient care, education and research and its partnership with The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) has created the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe. This role is based within the GI/lymphoma unit at The Royal Marsden (located at two sites - Sutton, Surrey and Chelsea, London), which is world renowned for excellence in clinical care and clinical research.

The post is suited towards an oncology trainee who envisages a future career as a clinical researcher, heavily involved in academic clinical trial development and translational research. This post will provide the knowledge and build the necessary skills to support this career pathway.

To fulfil the requirements of the post, applicants must be eligible for full GMC registration, hold a national training number in medical or clinical oncology, and have a minimum of one year’s experience in oncology. Typically applicants will plan to undertake this fellowship as an out of programme experience (OOPE).
