Do you have an interest in Dermatology nursing?

The role will be varied and will include Nurse led clinics and Minor Surgery. The expectation is that you will be running nurse led clinics at the end of the first 6 months in post.


You will need to be flexible and have some experience in undertaking Nurse led clinics. Previous experience of working in an Outpatients setting is desired.


A paediatric qualification or a willingness to undertake a child health MSC module is essential.

Main duties of the job

To develop knowledge within Dermatology to deliver nurse led follow-up clinics in Chronic disease management, Acne, Children with inflammatory skin disease and nurse led surgery. Under the support of a senior nurse or medical colleague.

Through knowledge, good example and education enable Department staff to deliver high quality, individualised care.

To provide support and supervision of nursing staff, and effectively coordinate and deploy resources within the Dermatology and Plastic Surgery Outpatient Department.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Proven Band 5 Registered Nurse experience.
  • Experience of managing others
  • Evidence to support a programme of personal professional development
  • Experience of preceptorship
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Experience working within an outpatient environment
  • Experience of supporting staff/team members within daily planning of the Department clinics including staff allocations.

Desirable

  • Proven recent experience of working in an Assessment Area.
  • Experience of working with minor surgery

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Relevant teaching and mentoring qualification

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge and understanding of evidence based practice.
  • Understanding and ability to apply clinical governance principles to practice.
  • Knowledge of infection control and decontamination issues.
  • Knowledge of developments in Medicine and Surgery and Oncology current issues driving nursing in general.

  • Ability to disseminate knowledge to others
