HR Advisor (Employee Relations) – Hybrid Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid) Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Competitive Overview Our client is seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join their People team in Edinburgh on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a pivotal role focused on providing high-quality employee relations (ER) support while building people management capability across the organisation. The successful candidate will work closely with managers and HR colleagues to deliver proactive, commercially sound HR advice, support the resolution of ER matters, and contribute to continuous improvement of HR policies, processes, and employee experience. Responsibilities Provide timely, consistent, and expert advice to managers on a broad range of employee relations matters, including absence management, performance, disciplinary, and grievance cases. Manage end-to-end ER casework, ensuring fair, legally compliant outcomes and appropriate escalation of complex or high-risk issues. Coach and upskill line managers to confidently and effectively handle people management and ER matters. Support the design and delivery of training sessions, toolkits, and guidance materials for managers. Promote best practice people management and proactive issue resolution. Build strong relationships with stakeholders to understand business needs and challenges. Proactively review ER case activity with managers, identifying risks, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvement. Analyse ER data and trends, contributing to strategic insights and continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate closely with HR Business Partners and the wider People team. Requirements Proven experience managing a range of employee relations cases with minimal supervision. Experience working in an HR Advisor role or the capability to operate at this level. Sound understanding of current UK employment legislation. Experience coaching and advising managers on people management matters. Strong customer service ethos with a professional, solutions-focused approach. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and competing priorities. High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate HR administration. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work independently while building effective working relationships at all levels. Confidence to challenge constructively where appropriate.
