Sales Account Manager

The Person
You will take ownership and responsibility for sales maximising both existing and new clients. You must build and convert a sales pipeline into profitable orders whilst ensuring expectations are met, and high levels of service are delivered. This includes researching and prospecting and building on sales to similar existing clients. It’s important to establish robust sales relationships with existing key clients to maximise sales of all our products. You will be responsible for lead quote follow up activities, and to understand why customers do / do not buy so our proposition can be developed and refined. This is a hybrid role, with weekly visits to our office, and majority of the time visiting clients, or hosting trade shows. You will be responsible for our client service administrators, and work closely with marketing.
The Role
- Exceed annual sales targets across all new and existing accounts.
- Improve current conversion rate of quotes to orders, monitor margins and set goals.
- Follow up with clients on orders, understanding the customer journey, service, and product quality.
- Review entire customer base, who is / isn’t ordering, what is / isn’t working, relapsed clients with a view to improving relationships and increasing order values.
- Identify new business opportunities, arranging introductory meetings and following up with appropriate proposals.
- Work closely with the client services team on key client and end user enquires, as well as high value opportunities.
- Host conferences, meetings, and industry events networking with potential customers, monitor competitor activity, increase industry knowledge, and develop new sales opportunities.
- Manage our pipeline and CRM system.
- Manage, coach, and inspire a small team with a focus on customer service.
- Monitor and report on customer and competitor actions in the marketplace.
- Produce customer visits reports, monthly reports, sales forecasts, customer presentations and internal management presentations.
- Align marketing activities to business development needs.
- Become an important member of the management team, reporting weekly on key orders, sales prospects, and customer activities.
Experience, Expertise and Skills
- Proven 4+ years in business development and / or sales
- At least 1 year managing a small team
- Loves doing a deal and winning business
- Hands on approach to working in an SME
- Strong communicator, persuasive with excellent face to face negotiation and sales skills
- Commercially aware and driven, seek out new business opportunities
- Strong relationship builder, with credibility and gravitas
- Highly motivated and able to inspire
- Analytical – ability to collate, review and draw conclusions from data
- Skilled with Microsoft Office, ERP, CRM and other systems
- Self-managing and organised
- Industry experience is desirable
