Position: SENCO Location: Newham Full time Salary: MPS (Inner London) + SEN Allowance Start Date: September 2024 We are seeking to appoint an outstanding, experienced SENDCo who has high expectations and believes that all pupils can and deserve to succeed. The position would require the SENDCo to work alongside, and be line managed by the current Assistant Head Teacher for Inclusion. The school is a large inner London Primary School dedicated to meeting the academic, therapeutic, and emotional needs of all its pupils. We have been committed to promoting all areas of inclusion as well as investing in developing pupil’s social, emotional and wellbeing across the school. SENCO Main responsibilities Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEND policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEND or a disability Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies Have a strategic overview of provision for pupils with SEND or a disability across the school, monitoring and reviewing the quality of provision through the use of agreed methodologies Work with early years providers, other schools, educational psychologists, health and social care professionals, and other external agencies where required The SENDCo will be required to safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils and young people and follow school policies as well as the staff code of conduct. To lead the High Needs In School Provision with some teaching responsibility Responsibilities and Qualities required An excellent practitioner, with a proven record of achieving high standards committed to education and raising standards have previous experience and understanding of teaching in the primary phase (minimum of 5 years) committed to inclusive practice able to lead and work effectively as part of a team, acting as a positive role model have excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills be passionate about Continued Professional Development have the National Award for Special Educational Needs Co-ordination and QTS have a thorough understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and experience in the role of SENDCo have both an excellent understanding of pupil progress and a willingness to embrace change the knowledge and expertise to build on established processes and systems some experience of delivering training/leading INSET to undertake observations of pupils and support teachers with strategies to ensure better outcomes for pupils We can offer you a supportive, hard-working and dedicated team of staff continued Professional Development opportunities a Senior Leadership Team committed to driving standards pupils who are keen and enthusiastic to learn a school where everyone matters
