Senior Mechanical Engineer - EV - £50k to £70k - Surrey


I am looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who specializes in CAD Design, thermal management and stress analysis to lead critical projects and ensure the reliability and efficiency of products. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of thermal dynamics, materials science, and structural integrity, combined with a proven track record of designing and optimizing systems under varying thermal and mechanical loads.


Role: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Salary: £50k to £70k

Location: Surrey

Sector: Electric Vehicles


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead the design and development of thermal management systems for high-performance applications.
  • CAD Design.
  • Conduct detailed stress analysis to ensure structural integrity under various operating conditions.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate thermal and stress considerations into product designs.
  • Perform simulations and finite element analysis (FEA) to predict thermal behaviour and mechanical stress distribution.
  • Identify and mitigate potential thermal and mechanical risks early in the design process.
  • Optimize materials and designs to achieve the best balance between performance, cost, and durability.
  • Validate designs through prototyping, testing, and analysis of real-world performance data.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers in the team.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in thermal management and stress analysis.
  • Proficiency in simulation tools such as ANSYS, COMSOL, or similar FEA software.
  • Strong background in heat transfer, thermodynamics, and materials science.
  • Experience with product development processes, from concept through to production.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to engineering challenges.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
