We are currently seeking a highly skilled and ambitious Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Skilled Careers, based in Surrey. As a leader in design and engineering, our diverse team works on some of the most prestigious and innovative projects in the UK and across the world.

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be involved in multiple projects with a varied workload and the autonomy to work individually, but will also assist in planning and managing an appropriate resource to deliver projects. Reporting to our Regional Director, you will provide support in delivering projects effectively to strict deadlines, whilst maintaining technical performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will be taking a leading role in a number of our most prestigious projects.
  • Our Surrey based office is heavily involved in mission critical facilities associated with aviation, healthcare and defence sectors.
  • We will be looking to you to not only be a client facing representative of our company, but also to lead an engineering delivery team in providing innovative and sustainable solutions.
  • The team is supported by a wider Mechanical, Electrical and Public Heath teams in London.
  • The Surrey team are a close group of engineers working together in an effective and cooperative team atmosphere with a flexible hybrid working model to working practices. The team find this a hugely beneficial feature of managing a healthy work life balance.
  • As part of the wider team, you will be looking to incorporate our philosophies of sustainability, net zero carbon, digital design, modern methods of construction and smart systems into your design work.

Key Requirements

  • You will have the ability to work as part of a team, but also take a leading role in managing engineers towards the delivery of their key projects.
  • You will be able to apply technical judgment and resourcefulness to feasibility studies, concept, scheme and detailed design, as well as construction support phases of projects.
  • You will be able to represent our company to other clients, whilst also understanding and delivering client needs in engineering solutions.
  • You will have a good working knowledge of UK mechanical building services design, including relevant standards, codes and regulations.
  • You will be able to manage the technical, cost and programme elements of project delivery.
