Overview:

I’m seeking to speak to an experienced Data Protection Specialist to join a leading organisation in the energy sector, based in Manchester. You will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with data protection regulations, with a particular focus on building out and delivering Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Records of Processing Activities (ROPAs).


Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs): Lead the development and delivery of comprehensive DPIAs for various projects, ensuring all potential privacy risks are identified and mitigated.
  • Records of Processing Activities (ROPAs): Build out and maintain ROPAs, ensuring they are up-to-date, accurate, and comply with GDPR requirements.
  • Compliance and Advisory: Provide expert advice on data protection matters, including GDPR compliance, data subject rights, and data breach management.
  • Policy Development: Contribute to the creation and enhancement of data protection policies and procedures across the organisation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with internal teams, including Legal, IT, and Compliance, to ensure data protection requirements are fully integrated into business processes.
  • Training and Awareness: Support the development and delivery of data protection training and awareness programs across the organisation.


Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in a data protection role, with a strong focus on delivering DPIAs and maintaining ROPAs.
  • In-depth knowledge of GDPR and other relevant data protection regulations.
  • Ability to analyse complex data processing activities and identify potential risks.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide clear advice and guidance to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Certification in data protection (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM) is highly desirable.
