Company Overview:

Our client is a UK-based start-up focused on developing advanced propulsion systems for small satellites. They are looking for a Software Engineer to develop the software that controls and optimises the operation of these propulsion systems. This is a unique opportunity to join an innovative company in the space sector.


Role Overview:

As a Space Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing the software that controls the hybrid propulsion system. You will work closely with the hardware team to create algorithms and software solutions to optimise system performance based on mission-specific requirements.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate with stakeholders to capture mission requirements and define the architecture for the propulsion control software.
  • Develop algorithms for trajectory optimisation and propulsion control.
  • Design and implement APIs to integrate the software with internal systems.
  • Deploy and test the software in a secure, controlled environment.
  • Develop a secure web-based interface for internal use, enabling real-time control and monitoring of propulsion systems.
  • Lead the deployment of the software, ensuring security and performance standards are met.


Ideal Qualifications:


  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, MATLAB).
  • Strong understanding of orbital mechanics, trajectory planning, and mission planning.
  • Experience developing mathematical models for complex systems.
  • Experience in developing secure and user-friendly web applications.
  • Proven experience in API development and systems integration.
  • Ability to handle sensitive technology with a focus on confidentiality.
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.


Preferred Experience:


  • Previous experience with spacecraft propulsion systems or aerospace applications.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems or real-time control systems.
  • Familiarity with the UK space or engineering sectors.
