We are seeking a Governance Officer to join a growing professional membership body who support over 80% of specialist health care professionals practicing in the sector.


This is a new role focussed on co-ordinating the meetings of various different committees, providing secretariat support and wider governance services to the Board, Council and Committees. It includes managing the cycle of elections and appointments to the Council, and reporting directly to the CEO when dealing with requirements for the Board meetings. You will report to the Policy & Governance Manager but will specialise on the Governance responsibilities, bringing all the committees together, to create one source of truth


The personality and attitude of this individual is crucially important, as the clinicians are extremely detail oriented. Any small mistake in the written minutes is picked up on. On top of this, there is a lot of internal politics. We will therefore be looking for the following traits from candidates:


  • Unflappable, remains calm under pressure
  • High level of emotional intelligence
  • Understanding of the big picture
  • Very approachable, managing a high level of diplomacy


If you have thorough experience of taking minutes, excellent attention to detail skills, the ability to join things together and become the go-to expert whom stakeholders feel comfortable approaching, then this is the next governance role for you
