Charity People is thrilled to be working with The Cardinal Hume Centre in their search for a new Individual Giving Manager. The Cardinal Hume Centre supports families and young people facing poverty and homelessness by helping them to thrive. The Centre strives towards a society where everyone has a safe place to live and the opportunity to reach their full potential. Their mission is to “Turn Lives Around” enabling families, children and young people to overcome poverty and avoid homelessness.


The charity helps over 1300 people every year, including nearly 600 families and 230 children and young people. The Centre is based within five minutes’ walk from Parliament and supports people and families in an area where homelessness has increased in recent years. Around 3,500 children from Westminster are housed in temporary accommodation and a staggering third of children live in poverty. With an annual income in the region of £3.6 million, the Centre currently employs around 60 dedicated members of staff and around 50 volunteers.


The Role

This is a permanent role, based in London, requiring a minimum of two days a week in the office. It comes with a salary of £38,000 p/a (inclusive of London weighting). They have a brilliant benefits package including 28 days holiday (incl Bank Holidays and increasing after two years of service); BrightSpot training access; cycle to work scheme and 6% employer pension contribution.


This role involves managing the Individual Giving (IG) and Legacy income pipelines, overseeing expenditure required to raise income, and providing monthly monitoring while using data analysis to evaluate fundraising results. Additionally, it requires the development and implementation of strategies to retain, recruit, and acquire new supporters aligned with the values of the Cardinal Hume Centre as well as an ability to provide excellent stewardship ensuring donors receive a personalised and warm donor experience.

The fundraising team are sociable, inclusive, incredibly passionate and high-performing, with exceptional leadership; they have seen impressive recent growth with an annual income target in the region of £2m and consistently reach budget.


About you

To apply for this role you will need to:

  • Demonstrate experience of success in fundraising in Individual Giving income stream, including employing strategies to retain, engage and recruit new donors.
  • Experience of working with a fundraising database (the Centre uses ThankQ) and the ability to analyse data
  • Show experience of delivering excellent Supporter Care and a Stewardship programme that enhances both the retention and engagement of donors
  • Experience of producing high-quality content – digital and print materials; demonstrating excellent editorial skills and attention to detail
