As the Hatchery Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of a thriving duck hatchery, ensuring optimal animal welfare, biosecurity, and production efficiency. Role:
- Oversee the daily operations of the hatchery, ensuring the smooth running of egg collection and hatching processes.
- Manage a team of 5 staff responsible for collecting and handling 3,500 eggs per day.
- Ensure high standards of animal welfare, biosecurity, and site security are maintained at all times.
- Monitor and maintain optimal hatching conditions, including temperature, humidity, and ventilation.
- Develop and implement hatchery procedures to maximize productivity and ensure efficient use of resources.
- Collaborate with senior management to meet production targets and improve hatchery performance.
- Maintain accurate records of egg collection, hatching rates, and overall hatchery performance.
- Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, and welfare regulations.
Salary:
- Around £38,000 per year (negotiable dependant on experience)
- 39-hour working week with rare weekend work
- Company vehicle provided for business and personal use
- Relocation package considered for the right candidate
Skills/Experience:
- Previous experience working in a hatchery environment
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing a team.
- Knowledge of biosecurity, animal welfare, and health and safety standards in a hatchery setting.
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
