Job Overview:

We’re looking for a highly self-motivated Director of Chemical Engineering, who is responsible for conducting a productive experimental program and engineering calculations and modelling to support process safety, scale-up evaluations, crystallization process development, and process optimization; managing scientific efforts and resources; communicating results and issues within the projects and the organization effectively; and leading a team of professional scientists and engineers.


Duties & Responsibilities:

 Responsible of process safety evaluations, and associated engineering calculations, producing process safety assessment report, to ensure safe operation of the Sandwich manufacturing plant;

 Responsible of developing API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) crystallization process and process scale-up parameters and recommendations, ensure the solid state characterization meet the specifications and successful scale-up; support intermediate crystallization process optimization and trouble-shootings.

 Responsible of process engineering support of process scale-up of all unit operations at Sandwich plant: e.g. mixing, heat and mass transfer evaluations, reaction kinetics, distillation, solvent extraction optimization, filtration and drying evaluation and optimization.

 Champions innovations and develops / leverages resources to implement advanced new concepts that improve the work processes / R&D efficiency; contribution to the intelligent R&D and manufacturing technology development activities

 Considered a Subject Matter Expert (SME).

 Coordinates with Sandwich R&D and operation teams to ensure smooth communications and process engineering support; enhance the influence of process engineering expertise on process R&D and technology transfer, establish and develop relevant work flows.

 Liaises with R&D and engineering teams at other site to support cross site communications and collaborations, responsible of support relevant client communications if required.

 Accountable for activities involved in training all levels of personnel, which typically includes designing and delivering programs, developing tests and visual aids, conducting training classes, developing criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities, while keeping abreast of training and development research: learning theory, motivation theory, and new materials, methods, and techniques, developing in-house programs and practices to identify developmental needs and increasing colleagues' effectiveness in present assignments. May evaluate and/or oversee contractors or vendors to develop and/or administer training programs. May be responsible for development of e-learning programs.

 Accountable for activities involved in developing and maintaining department quality programs, processes and procedures that ensure compliance with policies and that the performance and quality of services conform to established standards and agency guidelines.

 Manages and leads people, technological and financial resources within a sub-region or small country for multiple projects and on-going work activities of high moderate complexity


Experience Requirements - Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs):

 Bachelor’s or above degree in chemical or process engineering

 10+ years experience in process engineering R&D and 5+ years in team management.

 Understand the concepts of reaction kinetics, design of experiments, solubility and crystallization, mass transfer, heat transfer and process safety.

 Experience in managing scientific staff.

 Ability to independently plan, organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

 Excellent oral and written communication skills for effectively communication internally and externally.
