As we continue to grow, we're looking for a creative, enthusiastic individual to climb onboard as our Assistant General Manager (AGM). The position will sit within our senior management team to help take us to the next level by ensuring exceptional service across the site and playing a key role in our ongoing success.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management: Oversee and assist in daily operations of the café, ensuring the offering is fantastic and the staff and building are prepped.  
  • Standards & Quality Control: Lead from the front - upholding the highest standards of service, from food quality and presentation to customer service and cleanliness.
  • Event Execution: Assist in the execution of events, making sure all elements run seamlessly, from setup to teardown.
  • Team Leadership: Train, supervise and inspire staff, helping to maintain a motivated and positive working environment.
  • General Manager Support: Assist the GM with scheduling, staff training, budgeting, and day-to-day management tasks assigned.
  • Customer Relations: Build strong relationships with the community, addressing feedback and ensuring exceptional experiences.
  • Site Maintenance: Ensure all areas, including the grounds, car park, and public restrooms, are kept in top condition for guest safety and enjoyment - with any maintenance issues dealt with swiftly
  • Email & Communication Management: Respond to customer and client emails in a timely, professional manner, managing bookings, inquiries, and other communication.
  • Software Usage: Use relevant software for managing bookings, staff schedules, event planning, and inventory control to ensure smooth operational flow.

  • Creative & Enthusiastic: You bring passion, energy, and fresh ideas to your work, enjoying a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experienced in street food or events: You’ve got experience managing events and have worked with pop-ups or street food vendors, giving you a strong understanding of creative service setups.
  • Barista & Alcohol Trained: You’re comfortable with barista duties and have experience serving alcohol, with full knowledge of UK licensing laws (personal licence preferred).
  • Family-Friendly: You thrive working around children and families, especially in settings like Clara’s Corner, and enjoy fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment.
  • Aware of staff culture: You’re a natural leader who supports your team, creating a positive and fun workplace where everyone can succeed. This one is important - we have a great staff culture at the Walled Garden and are damned proud of it
  • Tech-Savvy & Organised: You’re comfortable using software to manage schedules, bookings, and other operational needs, with great attention to detail.
