This Opportunity:


Palladium’s UKEA region seeks an experienced Safeguarding Manager, who specialises in safeguarding awareness, prevention, reporting and response.


Location:


The position is based in Palladium’s London office.


Reporting and Supervision:

The role reports to UKEA’s Chief Operating Officer, and provides support to UKEA’s leadership team. Reporting will include both internal & external (client) processes.

The role holder will also work cross-functionally to activate and embed safeguarding across the whole region, and align and collaborate across incident reporting functions including risk management and safety and security.


Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring safeguarding is mainstreamed into all Palladium programmes, and ensuring that safeguarding risk assessments are conducted & policies and procedures being followed
  • Working with bid teams to integrate safeguarding in bids and with project delivery teams to ensure safe programming is properly implemented
  • Coordinating, supporting, and identifying and addressing capacity gaps among Safeguarding Focal Points across the region
  • Developing and implementing capacity development trainings, coaching, and mentoring for Safeguarding Focal Points within projects
  • Chairing the regional safeguarding community of practice
  • Leading investigations into cases of sexual exploitation and abuse linked to staff, partners, and representatives
  • Capacitating staff in investigation processes and increasing a pool of qualified investigators
  • Ensuring quality and robust case management, including quality reports and documentation of decision-making processes and actions
  • Ensuring compliance with required external standards in safeguarding and safe programming, and promoting best practices
  • Keeping up to date on trends and new safeguarding approaches and sharing knowledge
  • Performing any other relevant ad-hoc functions as needed.


Essential Criteria:

Experience in safeguarding or related field, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding prevention, awareness, reporting, response

Proven track record of implementing safeguarding measures, techniques and strategies

Desirable Criteria:

In-depth understanding of safeguarding in international development and humanitarian response

Familiarity with international safeguarding standards, and legal and regulatory obligations applicable to donor funded programmes
