We are looking for a process-driven, stable payroll manager to lead the payroll function. The role reports directly to the Group Financial Controller.


Salary up to £75,000pa.


What you will do:

  • Manage an employee payroll of circa £500m+ annually.
  • Cashflow forecasting.
  • Process and system improvement to drive efficiency.
  • SAP process expert.
  • Lead, plan, and implement business strategies.


What you will bring:

  • Member of the Institute of Payroll Management and an excellent knowledge of Payroll/PAYE policy and procedures.
  • Experience of managing staff at both individual and team level.
  • Ability to recruit and identify new team members.
  • Ability to train, coach and develop other team members and colleagues.
  • A strong team player with the ability to co-ordinate staff to work to tight deadlines.
  • Good knowledge of the attributes of a robust control environment.
  • BPE experience supported by an excellent understanding of SAP. Experience of SAP implementations and change management useful.
  • Good commercial awareness and knowledge of the business.
  • Understand the business needs and how the Employee Payments function can support these.
  • Excellent written and communication skills with the ability to present information to management at high levels as required.
  • Highly motivated with a strong commitment to achieving company wide and personal goals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with internal staff and 3rd parties at all levels and to handle difficult situations in order to resolve issues and agree a positive result.
  • Proactive with excellent attention to detail with the ability to plan, organise a team and deliver to tight deadlines is essential.
  • A methodical, attention to detail approach to work, together with the ability to monitor and control processes and procedures.
  • Strong skills to plan and control a project involving and directing other team members as required.
  • Ability to contribute to commercial discussions confidently.
  • Fully professional approach and behaviour with a high level of personal integrity.
  • A pro-active self-starter, with the drive, energy, commitment and enthusiasm to achieve results through others.
  • A forward thinker with the ability and drive to continuously develop and improve systems and process.
  • A proven track record to work under pressure, prioritise tasks and demands, in order to meet strict deadlines and timescales.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft packages, including Excel and Word.
