Main duties of the job

As a Mental Health Practitioner you will be responsible for initial assessment, delivery and evaluation of care and provide psycho-educational advice and practical support to young people and their families by drawing on evidence- based interventions and using a collaborative, recovery focused approach. Risk assessment and management including the need for positive risk taking is an important part of the role.

We predominantly offer short term, goal- based interventions for young people who need more support than that available from first line services, such as school nurses or school counsellors.

You will have the opportunity to make an active and meaningful contribution to our exciting service modernisation and redesign that is based on the i-Thrive model, ensuring children and young people get the right support, at the right time, in the right place, from individuals with the right skills.Liaison, advice and consultation with wider CAMHS, colleagues in Children Services and a range of external agencies such as Children's Social Care, Education, Youth Offending Services and Police is central to the role.

Job responsibilities

In BSW we have a strong commitment to staff development and progression. Over the last year we have developed a comprehensive CAMHS specific training programme for all staff at all levels. Our training programme includes multiple internal trainings relevant to CAMHS, it also links with external trainings funded through HEE.

Managers work closely with all staff to ensure they have the right training to enable them to confidently and competently deliver high standard interventions to children and young people.

Person Specification

Qualifications - Academic/Skills/Professional

Relevant professional qualification registered Mental Health Nurse, registered Learning Disability Nurse, registered Occupational Therapist, registered Children's Social Worker Current registration with relevant professional body - NMC, HCPC

Knowledge
