Role overview

We’re looking for an experienced Data Product Specialist, with a background in AI and innovation leadership, to join the Next 15 Labs, our central AI research and innovation hub. Your main remit is to drive AI innovation, conceptualising and prototyping solutions to the significant challenges faced by our brands and clients.

Working with leaders across our business, you will identify the strategic opportunities presented by the latest AI advancement and prove their application by designing experiments to test their technical feasibility and commercial viability.

Experiments will be carried out through a combination of internal team and partners, with a clear process and outputs which can be leveraged for full product development and/or wider learnings. It is expected that much of the experimentation will be focused on untried and untested solution areas, with some focus on also ensuring we maintain a foundational tool capability for our less self-sufficient brands to leverage.

The success of this role will be measured by the extent to which new ideas are progressed and proven (or otherwise) through experimentation and wider review of feasibility, and the degree to which the growth and innovation within our brands are supported.

We operate a flexible hybrid remote working model, enabling you to work from our office at 60 Great Portland Street, as well as remotely (UK based).

As a Head of AI Labs at Next 15, you will:

  • Oversee a cross-functional team of engineers, data scientists and analysts, as well as third-party providers, to develop innovative AI solutions and POCs that drive business growth.

  • Lead the strategy and roadmap for our AI Labs to align with overall business goals and manage the use case collection process across the brands.

  • Define the criteria and framework for new innovation initiatives and ensure there is a clear prioritisation and delivery process.

  • Identify and onboard third parties for collaboration or to supplement the AI Labs team when needed.

  • Lead discussions across the business to identify strategic challenges in brands, and AI opportunities to resolve them

  • Drive research and development of cutting-edge AI technologies such as large language models

  • Evangelise AI and educate stakeholders on AI capabilities, limitations, and responsible development

  • Monitor AI tools, industry trends, competitions, and benchmarks to maintain technical competitive advantage

  • Promote AI best practices in ethics, robustness, transparency, and governance

  • Manage budgets, timelines, and resource allocation for AI Labs projects and team

  • Support the creation of a data and AI strategy across the Group

  • Line manage the team, ensuring that all members are effectively supported and guided to achieve their objectives

You will bring:

  • A degree in computer science, AI or IT-related subject

  • Experience in successfully launching AI or advanced analytics products to the market

  • Data science and AI solution knowledge and experience in data product management

  • Data analytics, technology and governance knowledge

  • Stakeholder and project management skills with client-facing experience

  • Strategic thinking with the ability to balance innovation and business needs

  • Experience in UI design and UX

  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle, including requirement analysis, quality assurance, design, scheduling, implementation, issue tracking, version control and deployment
