Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self motivated individual with a minimum of four GCSE's or equivalent qualifications in English and Maths, to join our friendly team in the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton

Applicants must have good literacy and numerical skills and be experienced in working with members of the public. The post holder will work within a team of 9 staff across the UHDB Mortuaries in the handling of deceased patients, and with other members of Cellular Pathology, to produce a timely, high quality, accurate and cost effective service.

The successful candidate will also be expected to provide administrative assistance to the support secretary if required, so must have good IT skills, be able to use their own initiative, and be meticulous and organised in this role.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide assistance with the receipt and discharge of deceased patients to funeral directors, and must be able to work with emotionally distressed persons in a sympathetic and professional manor as you will be expected to conduct viewings for relatives of the deceased to include adults, children and babies

Keeping the Mortuary Department clean, tidy and stocked at all times

Maintain accurate and thorough data on all procedures within the mortuary to comply with statutory and Trust requirements. This will include all matters relating to the Human Tissue Authority whilst assisting in the management of records for human tissue.
