Job summary

Due to career progression an exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated and flexible Occupational Therapist to join the Orthopaedic Inpatient Therapy team.

The post holder will work with a large dynamic team of professionals and offers exciting opportunities to be involved in pioneering work. Previous projects have included removing post operative hip precautions, setting up day case arthroplasty surgery and contributing to the development of the inpatient splinting and bracing service.

The Orthopaedic service provides rehabilitation for a diverse client group throughout the South Yorkshire region. The Trust is a regional major trauma centre. The successful candidate will have the the opportunity to develop their skills treating patients with a wide range of conditions including major trauma, acute spinal injuries, Ilizarov and external fixator frames, fractured neck of Femurs and much more.

The post holder will be involved in service improvement projects, staff development and education and will work under the direct supervision and support of a clinical specialist Occupational Therapist.

The role requires working primarily at the Northern General Hospital. Successful candidates will also contribute to the Orthopaedic weekend roster.

Main duties of the job

Are you a qualified Occupational Therapist with :-

A BSc in Occupational Therapy.

Post graduate experience; sufficient to acquire core competencies in Occupational Therapy practice.

The knowledge and skills to manage a complex specialist caseload of orthopaedic patients.

Effective Interpersonal, communication and team working skills and a positive, proactive approach.

Evidence of continuous personal & professional development.

Competency in clinical reasoning, processes & practices.

Able to act on own initiative, organise and prioritise work and manage multiple tasks.

Able to maintain accurate written records & statistics.

Calm approach to changing work situations.

Able to teach and motivate others.

Ability to clearly demonstrate PROUD values throughout all aspects of work.

BSc in Occupational Therapy or equivalent Current HCPC registration Short Specialist post-registration training programmes

Experience

Post-registration experience of sufficient to acquire core competencies in Occupational Therapy practice for medical, surgical and neurological conditions and the knowledge and skill to manage a complex specialist caseload in the chosen field

Desirable

Clinical Governance or Health & Safety, link worker Member of special Interest Group Fieldwork educators Course Clinical Effectiveness course/Project
