An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the new Sheffield Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SEOC) at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital as a Technical Instructor. This is an exciting time for the Orthopaedic therapy team, with a significant amount of new funding to create a state-of-the-art elective unit and staffing model.

The successful applicant will work on a new purpose-built elective unit, on the top floor of the Royal Hallamshire Hospital with fantastic views over the city. SEOC will be a specialist regional hub treating a diverse patient group across the South Yorkshire region and further afield.

The successful applicant will work in the Inpatient Therapy Team consisting of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Technical Instructors and Therapy Assistants. Working in pre operative clinics and providing post operative therapy under the guidance of qualified therapist to patients having elective orthopaedic surgery.

There will be static posts based at the Royal Hallamshire on the new SEOC unit and rotational post between the Northern General Hospital covering the trauma and orthopaedic wards and the new SEOC wards at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

JOB PURPOSE

Provide Therapy to patients. Ensure governance standards and contribute to the operational management and modernisation of Musculoskeletal (MSK) Therapy Services.

ROLE OF THE DEPARTMENT

MSK Therapy Services provides Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy to patients referred to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. MSK Therapy Services is part of the MSK Directorate within the trust.

The new service involves participating on an early and late shift pattern and a weekend working roster, for example Early shift, mid shift, and late shift.

There will be a weekly shift pattern allocated, this will include an early shift 7.30am-3.30pm, a mid shift 9.30am-5.30pm and a late shift 11.30am-7.30pm. Participation in weekend and bank holiday working also required.
